Driving through the Czech Republic and Slovakia, you can't help but notice the CRAZY colour choices they make on their homes. The highrise versions are called "Panelák", or panel buildings - prefab concrete structures, blocky and boring, but painted by the inhabitants in vibrant, almost ridiculous colours (hot pink skyscrapers...).
The effect is even greater on the individual dwellings, when they line up beside each other in the street in all their clashy glory. All the buildings are so architecturally boring - no details, just flat blocks of rendered concrete. Not even window frames - so they paint them on instead!
The most stand-out colour has to be this vivid green, especially contrasted against the terracotta roof tiles. It's like going to the paint store and asking for Kermit green (and don't worry, they do all the other muppets too).
Can't say I'd make this colour choice, but it sure makes for interesting driving.
