Bratislava has no camp sites nearby, so to visit the city we stayed in a little apartment we booked online the day before. It’s a nice city, with lovely little cafes and restaurants. We ate at a fusion restaurant (Thai + Slovakian, no idea why they thought that was a normal combination) with an amazing view over the city. Excellent and copious food, and the highlight of the evening – apart from a stunning sunset – was a cocktail served in a mini ceramic bathtub, complete with rubber ducky! Amazing!

The next day we visited the clock museum, which is a quaint little place in a tall skinny building – with equally tall and skinny staircases. They had all sorts of odd little historical clocks, including a pocket sundial, which had a built-in compass to help you line up the time. The afternoon we spent walking all over the city, visiting the blue church (it is indeed blue), wandering down winding alleyways and up steps to the castle on the hill. This was absolutely freezing so we went back to the apartment for takeaway sushi and Game of Thrones…. We can’t do the entire trip without a boring night in occasionally. :)
